Kinsella Group Joins Mayor of Chicago in Welcoming Chinese Diplomats and Trade Officials to "Chicago-Shanghai Dialogue" [Lake Bluff, Illinois - May 1, 2005] Two senior members of Kinsella Group, Inc. - Robert J. Kinsella, President, and Bernard M. Filler, Senior Vice President - M&A - recently joined the Mayor of Chicago, Richard M. Daley, and local political, business and civic leaders in welcoming the Mayor of Shanghai and other Chinese diplomats, senior trade officials and educators to a series of events aimed at strengthening economic ties and cooperative relationships between the two cities.
On April 5, 2005, Mr. Kinsella was a member of the Chicago delegation attending the Chicago-Shanghai Dialogue, a conference sponsored by the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations and the Chicago Sister Cities program. Co-sponsored by Kinsella Group and other leading businesses and organizations such as United Airlines, Motorola, A.T. Kearney and the Dr. Scholl Foundation, the event focused on the topic "Creating A Global City." Throughout the day-long program, presentations and panel discussions were held on a range of economic issues important to both cities, including attracting trade and investment, urban planning and real estate investment. Later that evening, Mr. Kinsella joined Mayor Daley and a select group of local leaders at an invitation-only dinner at the Signature Room on the 95th Floor of the John Hancock Center, held in honor of The Honorable Han Zheng, Mayor of Shanghai, People's Republic of China. Also in attendance, at both the conference and the dinner, were more than two-dozen key business and political leaders from the People's Republic of China, including Mr. Xu Jianguo, Deputy Secretary General of Shanghai Municipality, Mr. Jiang Zhiquan, Chairman of Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd., and Mr. Xu Yibo, Vice-chairman and Deputy Party Secretary, Shanghai Municipal Foreign Economic Relations & Trade Commission. This most recent Chicago-Shanghai Dialogue is the second in a series of meetings held between representatives of the two cities. In October, 2004, Mr. Kinsella also joined Mayor Daley and a delegation of civic, political and business leaders on a visit to Shanghai for the inaugural event in the dialogue. In March, 2005, Mr. Kinsella and Mr. Filler spent two weeks in Beijing and Shanghai for a series of meetings with Chinese political and business leaders, and participated in the "Second China Automotive Industry Roundtable," sponsored by The Economist magazine. Kinsella Group is looking forward to playing an increased role in upcoming meetings regarding U.S.-Chinese trade. The city of Shanghai is currently the fastest-growing city in the People's Republic of China. With more than 17 million people in the metropolitan area, it is experiencing an economic boom not unlike that seen by the city of Chicago 100 years ago, when it was the fastest-growing city in the United States. As part of his ongoing municipal revitalization efforts, including the development of Millennium Park, attracting key businesses such as The Boeing Company, and refocused attention on education, Mayor Daley is reaching out to the city of Shanghai in a number of ways that will increase economic and cultural cooperation between the two cities. In fact, more than 3,200 children are already enrolled in Mandarin-language classes in the city of Chicago alone. Kinsella Group has particular expertise advising U.S. and Chinese clients on the intricacies of cross-border merger, acquisition and joint-venture transactions. In helping promote these transactions, Kinsella Group focuses on enabling Chinese businesses to enter into strategic transactions that also enhance the profitability and market share of selected U.S. businesses. For the past two years, Kinsella Group has seen a significant increase in these alliances, and is rapidly becoming the "go-to" firm for both U.S.- and China-based businesses interested in exploring these opportunities. Kinsella Group's ongoing participation in these events is a result of its commitment to continue and expand its services and value to current and prospective business clients in both China and the United States. Acting as middle-market investment bankers, Kinsella Group helps clients and other key parties recognize and execute forward-thinking value propositions that build on the unique strengths of successful Chinese and North American enterprises.
